Sustainability

A Sustainable Wal-Mart -- Beginning October 1st, the top US suppliers to Wal-Mart must answer a series of questions about sustainability.  The questions focus on everything from ethical production practices to the company's carbon footprint.  Eventually, products will be give a sustainability rating.  Wal-Mart customers will see that information, allowing them to consume in a more sustainable way.  From the Red River Radio Network newsletter, July 20, 2009.

We also know from personal contacts at General Mills that their executive thinking closely mirrors that of Wal-Mart.  General Mills is looking at the sustainability practices of its vendors, as well.
